Local Authorities
The local government is the Resort Municipality of Whistler, which provides local services and community infrastructure including water, roads, sewerage, recreation and cultural programs, fire protection, law enforcement through the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, bylaw enforcement, conservation and protected areas, parks and resident housing. They also legislate and enforce land use and development and maintain all municipal property, including Whistler Village.
Tourism Whistler, incorporated under the Resort Municipality of Whistler Act, is the local tourism bureau, a partnership of land owners and business operators that promotes and markets the resort. They also manage the Whistler Conference Centre and Whistler Golf Course.
The Whistler Chamber of Commerce is a ‘not for profit’ voluntary organization comprised of 800+ Whistler businesses and associations. It has a 40 year history in supporting local commerce and acting to make Whistler a visitor friendly destination. Their goals are to help maximize success for all businesses in Whistler by providing support, resources and tools.
There is also the Provincial Government of British Columbia, and the Federal Government of Canada.
