This morning was great skiing. The snow was in good shape, and the groomed runs were great. Once again there wasn’t much traffic, and the lift lines were non-existent. The upper mountain had great visibility, although once you got down to mid-mountain there was a , at times very heavy, fog layer that made most people put on the brakes. Luckily the layer wasn’t very high, and generally it didn’t take long for the fog to lighten up enough to allow you to ski as fast as you wanted to.
I did find myself skiing more on-piste than off, that was partly due to the runs having no people on them and also the snow off-piste seemed a little ‘chunky’. Nothing to complain about, but when there was a groomed run with no one on it beside me, it didn’t take long to get back onto it and let the skis run.
No new snow, but we are expecting around 10cm tomorrow, followed by a mainly sunny weekend.
Happy Valentines Day everyone, hope you all have wonderful days with your partners.
Next week Whistler is hosting the Whistler World Cup. An FIS event featuring a Mens Super G and Giant Slalom, and a Womens Downhill and Super Combined. So if you would like to see the worlds very best, racing on the runs that will be used for the 2010 Olympics, you should make plans to visit Whistler during the 19 - 24th of February.
