Wow, another big dump overnight :) I knew the freezing level was meant to rise today, so I got up early and skied the first part of the day. First up, the snow was awesome, but as the day wore on, the freezing level did rise and it ended up being quite a heavy snow. Still, it was awesome, and patrol managed to open the alpine areas.

7th Heaven was great, and I did 1 lap on Harmony chair before calling it a day – also nice. I had some awesome deep turns in both zones. My first 3-4 runs of the day (Tokum/Bear Paw/Ravens) were awesome, as the snow was still reasonably light.

It wasn’t quite the carefree powder we have had lately, as it required a bit more effort to ski. It was the kind of snow that I prefer to be a ‘little’ chopped, as it helps me maintain a better balance. I heard the Peak chair had some decent snow, and that Spankys was a really heavy snow. I skied down around 1pm, and by then, the lower mountain had become a ‘packed (wet) powder’ scenario, which is quite an edge grabby experience…..

There were some big crowds today, and I presume this has been the busiest weekend of the season. Red and Green chairs were 10 min waits, while 7th Heaven seemed more like 15+. Quite a long time, especially compared to the rest of the season. Personally, I lapped Garbonzo chair all morning, which had about a 5 min wait.

The forecast isn’t looking as good as it was, with the freezing level staying relatively high (~1400m) over the next few days. Still, there should be plenty of snowfall, which is always good.

Update: 8:30pm and it is raining hard in the valley. Looking at the online temps, it is probably rain all the way (almost) to the top :( The current forecast is calling for a windy day tomorrow, so unless the freezing level drops, it will be a nasty day :(

I did manage to hit up the mountain Sunday and Monday. I waited for about 45 minutes at the bottom of the Peak chair for it to open. When it was did (and I think i mentioned this in another comment) it was insane powder that I’ve never skied before down Whistler Bowl. It was heavy and I don’t have the skis for it.

Today was pretty great. I wasn’t going to ski because my knee is still messed up and it was raining like a mofo. But by 1pm the rain subsided and the sun was out. I did a few runs on Whistler and had a great time on the piste with some carving skis. Heavy and stiff (obviously not great for pow), but I had a great time.

Hey Nick, glad to hear you are back on the mountains (and got some deep powder). Thanks for the info on today’s (Monday) conditions.
