Another cold sunny day

February 4th, 2008 · No Comments

Whistler was once again blessed with a mainly sunny day, with awesome snow conditions. Just browse through the few previous posts for the details. However it appears to be changing as I type this. Whistler is about to be blasted by what looks like a big system, with a snowfall of approximately 25cm expected tomorrow, then 10-15 for each of the next few days. Powder days ahead :)

This system has accompanying high winds, so it will be a case of what time ( and even if ) the alpine lifts get opened. I will go out on a limb and predict that the lifts will get opened early tomorrow, before being closed in the afternoon, then probably closed all Wednesday. By Thursday, the winds should have died down enough to get some epic powder runs in the alpine.

Snow Report:

Developing snow, a few cm’s tonight then a big storm starting tomorrow afternoon. Snow base is 230 cm.

A few runs ( Dave Murray, Wild Card and Franzs ) on Whistler mountain were shut today due to Whistler hosting the Canadian Championships. I am not sure, but I expect them to be closed for a few days in total.
