Bluebird skiers rejoice

January 24th, 2008 · No Comments

What a week in Whistler, especially if you love skiing on bluebird days. Every day has been clear and sunny. The temperatures have been cold, but very comfortable still, resulting in awesome snow conditions. On top of that, the grooming teams on both mountains have been hard at work, grooming a lot of the runs to near perfect condition. I have had a blast the last few days ripping up the piste. Looks like one more day of this, and then the snow returns, and the powder hounds can rejoice.

Overall, a lot of happy faces on the mountains this week. So get out there and carve some nice lines tomorrow, then go home and wax your powder skis :)

Snow Report:

Snow base is down to 219 cm, and I have seen a few rocks starting to get exposed. However once we get a few more snowfalls, those rocks will be forgotten about again.

This Saturday is Retro day, so expect to see a lot of people out there in their one piece suits and old skis. Join in the fun !!

Saturday is also Australia Day in Whistler - January 26 is a day to mark on your calendar. The biggest party of the year, courtesy of the hard working and fun loving Australians you see all over Whistler. Every year hundreds of ‘Aussies’ flock to Whistler and make it their home for the season. January 26 is our ( yes I am an Aussie too ) national day, and if you are in town, you will be sure to see quite a few of us out and about, partying hard to the early hours of morning. A very impressive feat, since most will be starting to drink at sunrise :)
