Cloudy but great visibility

February 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

The clouds rolled in today, bringing a small flurry or two while keeping good visibility. Great snow conditions, although a little bumpy, are slowly getting better as the temperatures stay cold. The World Cup is on this weekend, and should have ideal conditions. Hopefully no fog layers develop, and the snow remains as is.

Whistler is currently is great condition, however it does need some new snow. The bumps are getting bigger, and a few icy / hard packed patches are appearing on the main runs. While everyone is happy and enjoying their skiing, we all want some powder to play in, and to spice up the mountains again.

No new snow, with only 2cm reported in the last 7 days. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be any snow the in medium term forecast, possibly a little bit next weekend, but otherwise mainly cloudy. At least the temperatures should remain just below zero and keep the snow in ‘fun’ condition.

Whistler Blackcomb is still a great place to be, just not as good as it’s been all season.

Edit: The World Cup actually started yesterday, with Canada’s Erik Guay coming in 4th fastest in the Men’s Super G, and today Whistler’s own Britt Janyk taking 4th in the Women’s Downhill. Well done team Canada, let’s hope they can manage a podium before the weekend is over.
