Another good day on the mountain, the snow conditions are fantastic. There is plenty of powder still around, and the groomed runs are awesome with their soft snow base. It has sure has been a fun couple of days. The terrain has really filled in – a couple of rocks still remain, but the piste is definitely covered. Even the lower mountain is quality snow (although that may change by tomorrow afternoon). An occasional spot of flat light is about the worse thing I can say
Today was the first Saturday I have skied for a while, and as to be expected with all our new snow, the weekend crowd had arrived. While a few chairs had a wait time of 10-15 mins (Excelerator,7th and Harmony) other chairs were virtually wait free (and I do mean the high speed quads). I never had a problem with it being busy on the runs (on and off piste), except for a couple of the cat tracks that serve as main connectors.
The forecast is great, 5 – 10cm to the valley tonight with another 10 -15 during the day tomorrow (with a rising freezing level ending around 1700m – Roundhouse is around 1850m). So it will be continual snow above the Roundhouse, but a snow/rain mix for the lower half through until Monday (with another 15-25). Then the freezing level drops lower with more snow and eventually it will be snow all the way to the valley again. More snow follows – so in plain English – big dump coming through.
So basically, this means you should head up early tomorrow morning and get the best of tonights new snow. By early afternoon, the winds are going to be stronger, and the snow wetter with rain at lower elevations – so probably best to call it a day. Save your legs (and the snow) for Monday, which should see better snow quality (and lots of it). Then the rest of week will be awesome with continual snowfalls on top of this big dump – and the freezing level dropping back to the valley will make the snow better and better

Didnt make it up early this morning (Sun) and the queue at the wizard express was the biggest its been all week….
was really busy at solar coaster and the snow below that was really heavy…. too heavy for day 6 of our holiday.
So we are taking your advice… chilling this afternoon and getting first lift on Monday
W00t, I finally made it up with my messed up knee today and skied down Whistler Bowl and it was the deepest powder I’ve skied in my life!
I’m using these new racing skis that are so heavy, I just sunk right in. It was intense. I bailed a few times.
David, sorry mate but the forecast didn’t go to plan and tomorrow looks like it will be wet and windy. I am going to check how strong the winds are in the morning, if really strong I will wait until the afternoon, if not – head up first thing.
