Bluebird, powder and no lift lines. What more could you ask for? Whistler delivered today. The freezing level dropped over night, and stayed low during the day, allowing the recent wet snow that has fallen a chance to dry out. Besides from a slight windslab effect, the snow was awesome. Only 10cm or so, but it was untracked, and stayed that way for most of the day, there was still plenty of fresh turns to be found at the end of the day, even on/near the main runs.
The bottom half of the mountain has suffered from the recent rain, there was a definite hard crust. So the alpine is obviously the place to be. Hopefully the freezing level will stay low and with a bit of new snow, the whole mountain will be good again. Still, get up top now, you will be pleasantly surprised.
The weather forecast is actually looking quite good. Although little snow is predicted :( The skies should clear up, and give us some nice bluebird skiing on the awesome snow in the alpine. Long term looks hard to forecast, the temperature is variable, and there will be some precipitation - if the moisture comes while its cold, awesome snow, if it comes when its mild, then once again we will have a rain level. We will have to play the waiting game, and hope for the best.
