Saturday was an absolute beauty, lots of sun and great winter snow up top, with fun slushy spring snow in the valley. So no matter what kind of skiing you like, you could find the conditions to suit. Today was mainly overcast, with slightly cooler temperatures. The snow at the top of the mountains remained in great shape, while the bottom stuff became a little ‘frozen’. Overall, great skiing conditions no matter you ability, tastes or type of ski you are on. There were conditions to suit you somewhere on the mountains. The lift lines were relatively light this weekend and there wasn’t any high winds.
The forecast is looking promising, plenty of snow is coming. The only hiccup is the possibility of the freezing level rising quite high (2000m) tomorrow afternoon. If this happens, we will get rain to the top, which is not a good thing. Hopefully it doesn’t stay that high for long (if at all). On a positive note, we are due to get a fair bit of snow (around 50cm total) in the next few days.
The snow base is 239cm, which is great. The temperatures are hovering around -5 at the peak, and rising as high as +7 in the valley. As mentioned before, this results in a wide variety of snow conditions, so everyone is bound to find a somewhere on the mountains that suits them perfectly.
