What a day! Brilliant sunshine, some fresh snow, good friends and awesome lines. First run of the day ended up being ‘Stupid East’ (I believe), a short run which requires a short boot pack from the top of Horstman T-bar. It can be seen while riding the Showcase T-bar by looking to the right. The rest of the day was spent lapping the Lower Poop Chutes, which are located on the backside of Blackcomb Glacier, and require a long traverse to get to. While there wasn’t much overnight snow, a lot of the previous days dump (almost 10cm) had remained un-touched (especially in the areas we skied) due to the bad visibility yesterday.
Overall, a beautiful day. Not a cloud in the sky, cold enough for great snow, yet warm air temperatures to keep the body happy. No lift lines, today was one of the quieter days I have seen for a while. Basically plenty of reasons to be on the mountain, and not one that I can think of to not be up there. Lots more sunshine in the forecast
I have added a video of me skiing a line in the Poop Chutes. The quality isn’t great, and it is around 7 MB so people with slow connections will have to wait a while to download it. However, if you are keen, here it is. Skiing Lower Poop Chutes. Save the video and open with Windows Media Player.
