Don’t get too excited – it is a pedestrian only chairlift, which has been installed between Creekside and the ‘Timing Flats’ of the Dave Murray Downhill. The ‘Timing Flats’ is the location of the finish gate for all Alpine Skiing Events for the 2010 Winter Olympics. It looks basically finished, and I believe they are going through the ‘test runs’ stage of the installation.
It has been installed to transfer spectators between Creekside and the stadium/seating being arranged for the Alpine Skiing Events. Alpine Skiing Events consists of both Mens and Womens Downhill, Super-G, Giant Slalom (GS), Slalom and Super Combined. This new chairlift is ‘temporary’ and I understand it has already been sold to some other resort once the Olympics are over.
Those photos very actually taken a few days ago, along with this one showing some of the nice Fall Colors in Creekside.
Update: I just wanted to add one more photo, which was taken today by Sarah Bourne. You can see more of her work at her Photography website.

The new gondola P2P, was featured on this week’s ‘Getaway’ program in Australia. The program also noted the activity building up for the winter Olympics in Vancouver & Whistler, and the recent snowfall at Whistler – looks great!
Hi Dad!
I hope all is well back in Oz. I always liked that program ‘Getaway’ especially Katriona (spelling?).
Thanks for joining in
The P2P gondola was actually opened last year on December 12 2008. You can read my post about it here.

With regards to construction, it seems like Whistler has been under constant construction for the last 6 years. Finally it is all coming to an end (there is still a few projects being finished).
I am sure that both Vancouver and Whistler PR departments have been preparing lots of different TV shows to showcase this part of the world, so expect to see a lot more of us during the next few months
