These are the days you live for ! You couldn’t get a sunnier day at the beach ! Combine that with 82cm of snow over the last week and you got two huge mountains covered in powder to play in.
Today was the first day I have (or even seen) waited in a line up for the Blackcomb Glacier to open. It was quite bizarre, yet totally understandable with the 40cm or so of perfect powder awaiting us
You can see the line in the picture below -
Needless to say, when they dropped the rope, it was a bit of a ‘cannonball’ run down the glacier. It was actually really cool to be getting a fresh line, and being able to look to either side and see (and hear) other people getting fresh lines at the same time. Lots of whooping and yelling on that first run. Over knee deep and not a single thing I can pick on.
Short post today, mainly because I am so tired from a few days of epic skiing, partly because I took a lot of photos today – which takes time to get onto the website. I also took a bit of video, which you can see below.
The forecast looks orgasmic for the next 7 – 10 days – lots more snow coming. You should check out the accommodation and get your butt up here !
Lastly, thanks to everyone who nominated my blog for the 2009 Lonely Planet Travel Blog Awards. I am one of the 5 nominees for the category of ‘Best Destination Blog’. So, now I would really appreciate it if you headed over to the site and vote for me ![]()
It only takes 10 secs, with no details required.
Hope you enjoy the video of a few of my friends enjoying a beautiful powder day. It is 4mb file, so it may take a while to load…..

Greg, you got my vote. Keep up the good work, we’ll be there for the first of April. Any snow falling now will help conditions in April.
