Powder in Whistler Village

March 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

The freezing level stayed in the valley, and it snowed 5cm overnight with at least another 5cm during the day.  Lift lines were non existent, so basically you have as much powder as you can ski in a day at the moment. It is still getting tracked up, but at the end of the day, you can still get some fresh turns. It was quite cold, and I was caught a little off guard by it, as I didn’t wear a fleece layer. I wish I had, because the winds were gusting up at times, and I ended up having a few chilly chairlift rides. The visibility was in and out, no real complaints, but at times it was a little hard to see due to the cloud layers. Never too dense to not see your way ahead, but it made it a little hard to see definition in the snow.

41cms in the last week, cold temperatures and a snowbase of 250cm are resulting in awesome snow conditions here at Whistler Blackcomb.  A few flurries tonight, followed by a few days of clear skies with cold temperatures means another great week ahead. Top that off with another system due to hit us for next weekend. Winds this week will be variable, but mostly calm. Might try for a few runs in the back country.
