Ups and Downs

February 29th, 2008 · No Comments

Today was one of the ‘down’ days for Whistler.  Dense fog layers, flat light otherwise, high winds in the alpine, and rain almost to the top :( The conditions were below average at best. There was a little bit of fresh snow, albeit wet and sticky, with more snow expected overnight. Hopefully the freezing level drops and we get decent snow.

The best skiing was found down low, where it was rain, and only rain. The visibility was good, and since it was slushy snow, it had a consistent friction. Unlike the snow up top, where the mixture of rain and snow had resulted in snow that was very sticky ( when you could see enough to let you ski fast enough ).
