16cm overnight – and no lift line at 8:15am at Creekside. I couldn’t believe it (especially for a Saturday and the start of Spring Break). The snow was quality all the way to the valley, although by around midday, it became a little heavy right at the bottom (and I mean only the last 100m vertical).

Great Powder Day – ski patrol even managed to get the alpines open on both mountains by 11am (some lifts earlier, but all by then). I enjoyed a few laps on Harmony chair followed by a couple on Peak chair. My favorite run ended up being the T-Bar line – as I got 2 completely fresh lines down it. I also got a completely fresh line under Red chair, and 1 on Dave Murray -> Tokum on Garbanzo chair, but the T-Bar line was simply epic – a great fall line. (It was a little skiers left of the T-Bar line, where the avalanche signage posts are)

I ended up calling it a day just after lunch – I felt bad about coming down so early, but figured the snow is only going to get better each day (since there is snow forecast everyday) and I had some work to do. I will probably only do a half day tomorrow as well, to save my legs for the Extremely Canadian clinic. Normally I would ‘blame’ the lift lines for a short Saturday, but today I can’t – Peak chair had no line, and even Harmony had less than a 5 minute wait.

So, fantastic snow, and quite a bit of it. The visibility was the only ‘down’ point of the day – with it being Poor -> Fair at best. To be honest, I couldn’t see much at all at the top of each alpine lift, but once you dropped a little vertical, the visibility (while a little low light) was fine, and I could easily see enough definition to ’see’ the snow conditions ahead. A little windy at times, but once again – no complaints.

I hope everyone who booked a ‘Spring Break’ holiday is enjoying the snow, and not complaining about the lack of sun !! A strange season for sure, but we are more than happy to have snow to the valley this week.
